History Room Overview

Welcome!

The Hudson Area Library’s History Room houses resources that pertain to the history of the City of Hudson, towns of Greenport and Stockport, as well as greater Columbia County and New York State. Among the holdings are Hudson City Directories, 1851 to the present; Hudson High School’s Blue and Gold Yearbooks, 1914 to the present; historical periodicals; Hudson postcards; photographs from the Neefus and Ciancetta-Rowles collections; the Albert E. Clements Papers, the CMH Nursing School Papers, and Arthur Koweek’s Urban Renewal Papers; and the BLACC (Black Legacy of Columbia County) and HAL Oral History Project collections. The general archival collections contain news clippings, original documents, photographs, local history booklets, pamphlets, and local oral histories. The books and magazines are cataloged and searchable online in the Mid-Hudson Library System. The archival collections are organized by finding aids and container lists, which are available on this website.
